What Pitcher keeps in your browser, which analytics is optional, and how to change your choice.

On this page

Pitcher uses a few cookies and a little browser storage to sign you in and to remember what you chose. Optional analytics, which counts what is opened and done on Pitcher, runs only if you allow it. Everything Pitcher stores about you is described on the Privacy page.

Your choice#

Optional analytics is off until you allow it. Your choice is kept in this browser for 180 days; after that, or if what it covers changes, Pitcher asks again. Change it on this page at any time, or with Cookie preferences at the foot of most pages.

You have not chosen yet, so analytics is off.

A change applies from then on. It does not remove what was recorded while analytics was allowed; to ask about those records, write to hello@trypitcher.co.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control and you have not chosen, Pitcher treats that as no. If you then allow analytics here, your choice applies, though the short link cookie is still never set while your browser sends Global Privacy Control.

Your choice belongs to this browser. Another browser or device asks again, and allowing analytics in one does not allow it in another. Allowing or refusing analytics is not agreeing to the Terms or the Privacy Policy, and agreeing to them when you set up an account is not allowing analytics.

Optional analytics#

Off until you allow it, and off again as soon as you choose No. Choosing No changes nothing about using Pitcher.

  • Vercel Web Analytics

A script that counts each page you open. It loads from Pitcher's own address, and the address it reports leaves out anything after a #, the words you searched for, and invitation links.

    Set by
Vercel, which hosts Pitcher. Vercel says it also records the site you came from and your approximate location, browser, operating system and device type, and that its Web Analytics uses no cookies.
    How long
Nothing is kept in your browser.
    Can you turn it off?
Loads only after you allow analytics. After No it sends nothing more, and it is gone the next time a page fully loads.
  • Product measurements

Records on Pitcher's servers of which pages are opened and what is done on them, such as opening a deck, following a startup or contacting a team, each described under What we measure on the Privacy page. When you are signed in, each record is linked to your account; when you are signed out, it carries nothing that identifies you. Only the people who run Pitcher can read the records; founders see totals for their own page, never who.

    Set by
Pitcher, on its own servers. There is no cookie for this.
    How long
Kept on Pitcher's servers with no set period yet: nothing deletes them automatically.
    Can you turn it off?
Recorded only while you allow analytics. So founders' view counts, and Pitcher's own counts of visits and steps, count only people who allowed it. Counts of accounts, startup pages, follows and contact requests come from those records and include everyone.
  • Short link sourcept_src

When you follow a Pitcher short link (an address that starts with /r/) after allowing analytics, this keeps only the kind of link, such as a program or cold outreach. If you follow several, it keeps the first. If you sign up or add a startup while it is set, that kind of link is recorded with that step.

    Set by
Pitcher. Only Pitcher's server can read it.
    How long
    30 days.
    Can you turn it off?
Set only after you allow analytics, and even then never when your browser sends Global Privacy Control, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, or when Pitcher cannot tell where you are. Choosing No removes it.

One kind of count is kept whatever you choose: the requests AI services make to Pitcher's AI connection, which prepares startup drafts. Those counts are about the service. They concern no person or browser and carry no identifier.

Always on#

Needed for Pitcher to work, so they have no setting.

Cookies whose names start with sb. One holds your session and keeps you signed in, split into numbered parts when it is long; starting a sign in sets up to three more that help complete it.

    Set by
Pitcher, through Supabase, its sign in provider, on Pitcher's own address.
    How long
Up to 400 days, renewed while you use Pitcher, or until you sign out. Those that complete a sign in are removed when it finishes; if a sign in is never finished, they stay until they expire.
    Can you turn it off?
Always on once you start a sign in: Pitcher cannot sign you in without them. A visitor who never starts a sign in gets none.
  • Analytics choicepitcher_consent

Remembers the choice you make on this page: Allow or No, the day you chose, and which version of this choice it was.

    Set by
Pitcher, when you choose. Pages can read it, so the analytics script loads only after Allow. It is kept only in this browser: Pitcher keeps no record of your choice on its servers. For a signed in member, though, the absence of product measurement records of what they did can show that analytics was not allowed.
    How long
180 days, then Pitcher asks again.
    Can you turn it off?
Set only when you choose. Without it Pitcher would ask again on every visit.
  • Startup draftpitcher.draft.v1

A draft of a startup page, kept when you open a draft link you were given by the Pitcher team or by the AI service you use, so the form can open with it.

    Set by
Pitcher, in this browser's storage. Pitcher's servers keep no copy until you publish.
    How long
Used for up to 14 days, and removed the next time Pitcher finds it has expired. Starting blank removes it at once.
    Can you turn it off?
Kept only when you open a draft link.

Kept for convenience#

Kept in your browser for a feature you use, and nowhere else.

  • Team figurespitcher.team.*

For a member of a startup's team: the figures Home last showed, so Home can show what changed since you last looked. They never leave your browser.

    Set by
    Pitcher, in this browser's storage.
    How long
Until you sign out from the account menu, or clear this site's data. Signing out any other way, or deleting your account, leaves them in this browser.
    Can you turn it off?
No setting. Kept only for team members who see figures on Home.

Not part of this choice#

These happen whatever you choose. They are listed so you know about them.

  • Images from other sites. Google account photos load from Google. A logo given as a link loads from the site that hosts it, which may set its own cookies. Uploaded photos and logos load from Supabase, Pitcher's storage provider. Each receives your IP address and browser details when the image loads.
  • Players. A deck, video or booking page from YouTube (its privacy enhanced player), Loom, Vimeo (with do not track), Google Slides or Drive, or Calendly loads only when you open it. That provider may then set its own cookies under its own policy.
  • Signing in with Google. If you choose Continue with Google, Google handles that step under its own terms.
  • Sharing and links out. Share buttons open LinkedIn, X, your email app or your device's share sheet only when you press them. A link to a startup's site, deck or demo takes you to that site, which has its own cookies and policy.
  • Request logs. Vercel, which hosts Pitcher, and Supabase, which runs its database and sign in, keep logs of requests with your IP address, browser details and the full address you asked for, for a period set by their plans. An address can hold the words you searched for, what you typed into a place search, an invitation link or a sign in error. Supabase also keeps records of sign ins and sessions, which can include your IP address and browser details.

None. Pitcher shows no advertising, so there is nothing here to turn on or off.
