What we store#

Your account
The email address you sign in with, and, if you use Google, the name and profile photo Google provides. Your email is used to sign you in and to send you the emails you asked for, such as a sign in link.
Your profile
The name, username, one line, bio, roles, location, links, and what you can help with and are looking for, as you wrote them.
Your background
Experience, education, programs and highlights you add. Public on your profile, like the rest of it.
What you write
Your posts, replies, startup pages and updates.
Contact requests
The reason, your message, and your email address only if you choose to share it. Seen by you, the startup's team and moderators.
Team invitations
The email address a founder sends a team invitation to, seen by that startup's founders and moderators. An open invitation is deleted when a founder revokes it, when its founder leaves the team, when it expires and the address is invited again, or when the page is archived. An accepted or declined invitation is kept as a record until the startup is deleted.
Your follows and saves
Which startups, people and topics you follow, and which posts you save.
Product measurements
Which pages were opened and from where, which startup links were clicked, and when you follow, save, ask a question or contact a team. When you are signed in, each record is linked to your account. A record never holds the text you typed, a search query, or your email address. Only the people who run Pitcher can read these records, and they read them as totals. Founders see counts, never who.
Your profile photo
A profile photo you upload is stored as a public image, so anyone can load it. Your browser crops it and makes a new image from it before it is sent, so details inside the original file, such as where it was taken, are not uploaded. Replacing or removing it, or deleting your account, deletes the file, though browser and network caches can keep a copy for up to a day.
Uploaded logos
A startup logo you upload is stored as a public image, so anyone can load it.

What is public#

Your profile, your posts, your replies and your startup page are public. Anyone can read them, signed in or not. Startup pages can be found by search engines, and search engines and AI services may show, summarise or learn from them. Profiles, posts and replies are marked so search engines do not list them for now; if that changes, it will be announced in the Founders topic first.

What is private#

  • Your email address is never on any public page. Other members see it only if you choose to share it with a team in a contact request.
  • A startup's private contact email is visible only to that startup's team.
  • Which startups and people you follow, what you boost, and what you save are private to you.
  • Contact requests, and any email address you share in one, are private to you and the team you sent them to.
  • The email address on a team invitation is seen only by that startup's founders and moderators.
  • Whether a startup is raising is visible to signed in members only, never to visitors or search engines.
  • Founders see how many times their page and links were opened. They never see who.

Cookies and your browser#

Sign in cookies
Signing in sets cookies from our sign in provider, Supabase, that keep you signed in. They are needed for the product to work.
Your draft
A draft of your startup page, from a draft link or your AI, is kept in this browser for up to 14 days so the form can open with it. Pitcher does not store it until you publish.
Your team's figures
Home keeps your team's last seen figures in this browser, to show what changed since you last looked, until you sign out.
Short link cookie
When you arrive through a Pitcher short link, a first party cookie called pt_src keeps only the kind of link, for example program or cold outreach, for 30 days. If you sign up or add a startup while it is set, that kind of link is recorded with that step, so we can tell which ways of reaching founders work. It is not set in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, or when your browser sends Global Privacy Control, and it is never shared.
Page analytics
Vercel Web Analytics counts page visits without cookies and without identifying you. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, your visits are not counted.

Who we share it with#

Pitcher runs on Supabase for its database, sign in, sign in emails and logo and profile photo storage, and on Vercel for hosting and page analytics. They handle your data to run Pitcher. If you sign in with Google, Google handles that step, and until you upload your own photo or remove it, your Google profile photo is loaded from Google when your profile is shown. A deck, video or booking page opens from its own provider (YouTube, Loom, Vimeo, Google or Calendly) only when you press it, and that provider's terms apply. Nothing is sold, and nothing is sent to an advertising network.

Where your data is, and for how long#

  • Pitcher is run from the United States, and your data is stored there.
  • Your account and what you wrote are kept until you delete them or your account.
  • Our hosting providers keep request logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting for a limited time.
  • Copies may remain in our providers' backups for a limited time after you delete something.

Deleting your account#

Delete my account in Settings removes your account, your profile and the profile photo you uploaded, your follows and saves, and erases the text of your posts and replies. It is immediate and permanent. Replies other people wrote to your posts keep their place in the conversation, with your name and text removed. A startup page you share with a team stays for that team. A startup page with no other member is taken down, and its private contact email is deleted. Product records stay only as counts, no longer linked to you.

Your requests#

To get a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or ask anything about it, write to hello@trypitcher.co. We aim to answer within 30 days. Most of it you can change yourself in Settings.

Age#

Pitcher is a professional network for people who build and support startups. It is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 to use Pitcher, or at least 16 if you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, and if you are under 18 a parent or guardian must agree, as the Terms say. We do not ask for proof of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we delete the account and its personal information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has an account, write to hello@trypitcher.co and we will delete it. Pitcher shows no advertising and builds no advertising profiles of anyone.

Questions#
